Welcome to the December edition of our Active Communities update for Worcester.
Celebrating our 100th session of walking football, launching our Adapted Sports Club and awarding this year's final round of Worcester Sporting Grants; it has been a great end to the year for the Active Communities team!
In addition to the successful initiatives and programmes we have run, we have also been asking members and non members to 'have your say' and complete our Freedom Leisure Active Communities Consultation 2019. There is still time for you to have your say, with the consultation closing on Friday 13th December. Your feedback will help us to develop the activities you would like to see in your local community next year.
This will be our last Active Communities update for 2019, so I would like to thank all of the people who have attended our activities this year and all of the partners who have helped us deliver them. Have a great Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you at some of our exciting new activities next year.

Launching walking football at Perdiswell Leisure Centre has proved to be a tactical masterstroke, with the 100th session in two years having just taken place.
On Tuesday 29th October Active Communities Worcester delivered their 100th Walking Football session at Perdiswell Leisure Centre. The group celebrated the occasion by playing an intra-group tournament, before enjoying coffee and a selection of cakes afterwards. Over the past couple of years, the Walking Football members have formed some strong friendships which means the session has led to not only physical benefits for the participants, but social too.
Walking football attendee, Keith Lewis said: “Walking football is a fantastic sport. I haven’t played football since my early 20s, but after having a heart attack whilst playing squash, I had to find a sport that was enjoyable and safe for me to play.
"I attended the very first walking football session at Perdiswell Leisure Centre in 2017 and have loved it ever since. The group have become good friends and as a result I have only missed four of the 100 sessions so far.”
To try walking football, pop along to Perdiswell Leisure Centre on a Tuesday to try a session for free. For more information call 07885 407474 or email activecommworcs@freedom-leisure.co.uk
